to my fellow DINGLEANONS.

I'm one of those people who get's so excited when mid may to june 24 would  be fast approaching. Not because classes are starting, not because it's the beginning of the rainy season and definitely not because summer's ending. One thing i get excited about when june is coming up, and it would be dingle's annual fiesta every 24th of June.

I always look forward to going to dingle before fiesta or during fiesta because of the fun rides at the plaza, the endless sabado nights where in different associations would showcase there talents in singing, dancing, and other talents that dingleanons would come up to. As we all know, lots of dingelanons are talented, creative and not to mention lots of beautiful faces too.

FYI:
The Fiestas patronales ("patronage festivals" in English) are yearly celebrations held in countries influenced by Spanish culture.
fiesta patronal is usually dedicated to a saint or virgin, who is the patron of whichever city holds the fiesta. Usually, town members adorn the town streets with colorful decorations and other things. In big cities, there are particular fiestas for each neighborhood, usually about the patron saint for the local parish.
Depending to the budget of the town, the fiestas patronales may last just one day (the day of the saint being honored) or nine days called el novenario. Most Latin American countries dedicate the first day to the saint or virgin being celebrated; in Puerto Rico, the musical and entertainment festivities begin right away.
Most Fiestas patronales feature verbenas, live entertainment by famous international or local singers, amusement parks, and street vendors, among other things, during the celebration.
Fiestas patronales are not national holidays, because they only reflect the celebration of one city or town and are religious celebrations.

As far as i could remember, i used to play at the perya and that would be so much joy to us kids and also for some teenagers and even adults would love to play still at the perya's. My favorite game would be "tiro2x". And by that game that gave me plus points being a sharp shooter during our CAT training. Anyhow, who wouldn't love riding the ferris wheel? Well some or most of us would be afraid of heights but most of us, i sure know would love riding the ferris wheel. Just seeing the scenery of the town, lots of flashing lights, the midnight sky and if we get the chance that it's not raining the stars and moon would be at it's brightest while riding the ferris wheel. Who wouldn't forget when Mayor Solinap invited the Tribu Bola2x to parade before the fiesta or was it the day of the fiesta? whatever that is, it was surely a dingleanons pride to have a grandslam winner of one of the festivities in iloilo which is the dinagyang to visit and perform at our town fiesta. And mostly, who wouldn't forget such beautiful face who became one of the fiesta queens in dingle. She was a balikbayan back then and she had a very memorable vacation in dingle because she did not just witness the festivity before fiesta but the dingleanons chose her to become one of our fiesta queens.

Sad to say, we didn't have so much fun now since Mayor Robin Solinap died and eventually a year after they changed administration and ended up changing the date of our fiesta. At first, people were ignorant and acting like innocent people to agree with the decision of the new administration until last year were the fiesta wasn't celebrated still. There were speculations where the priest and the Mayor had a misunderstanding that they would not allow the fiesta to be held on june 24. As far as i know, they said it was just a Pagdihon festival they would be celebrating on October and not moving the fiesta on that said date or month.

It was shocking for me since 2007 that we didn't have perya's at the plaza or not celebrating the fiesta. As far as i'm concerned, the new administrators should not steal the experience for our new generation not to play at the perya's and ride the ferris wheel were yearly the children would surely look forward enjoying that awesome feeling riding those rides. I know pototan those have the said rides during dec. But hello, we all know that it's in every filipino's culture that we have those games and rides during our fiesta's. And sad to say, dingle was an exception. tsk. As for me, how can i share those memories above to my niece and nephews if i myself is no longer excited of the fiesta. And if i would tell those stories to the younger ones they would be just upset not to be able to ride those awesome octopus ride, the ferris wheel and the other new stuffs. They wouldn't experience playing at the perya's and not  be able to feel that awesome feeling when you get to shoot that duck or car and ended up having 3 candies or whatever the prizes are. Who wouldn't miss the inuman sessions at the plaza every saturday and the shows at the covered gym that different schools would be competing just to take pride being a dingleanon and in every barangay's pride. But look at it now, they would even fire the chief of fireman because the newly donated firetruck should be parked inside the covered gym and not just park it infront of the station because daw "ginaulanan gna initan lng man da ang truck i park na sa sulod gym" as i would quote whoever fired the poor chief. Now you know. Funny thing is, din na park ang firetruck subong aw? dba dra lng man sagwa?  teh tane gn fire nu man ang chief of fireman subong eh. Or maybe he's one of the administration's slave that he would just say yes to whatever demand you have? Is he? hahaha… see? tsk..Poor you!

Anyhoo, back to the fiesta that's happening tomorrow. I cant even greet on dingleanons wall a happy fiesta because i can't consider it happy when I cant even see a banner saying it's dingle's fiesta this coming 24th or even the perya's. It's such a shame if we would be inviting visitors from the city or any other places or even our balikbayan's just to go to our town to witness the fiesta. Because it maybe weird or odd for them not seeing any banderitas, perya's, rides and worst the streamer's saying it dingle's fiesta. What a shame! tsk. The balikbayan's would surely be dismayed witnessing how sad dingle would celebrate the fiesta. Or their children would even regret going with their parents to accompany them in there said hometown just to attend the fiesta but would end up not having a fiesta. see the logic here?
Dingle Catholic Church – Built in1886, this church of Baroquial style is made of limestone from Bulabog Mountain, painstakingly carried by the early parishioners through narrow, steep and dangerous trails to the present site. The Dingle Catholic Church remains a landmark of Dingle and a symbol of human ingenuity.

Not to mention, its the church 125th anniversary tomorrow too. Not just our fiesta but its a freaking celebration of our church standing in that same place for 125 years already. It should be a pride for us because we have one of the oldest church in Panay. Remember? For pete's sake, kung gaaway kmo ya sang pari. We don't freaking care. Hindi nu ya pagdalahiga ang mga tawo and deprive them of having an annual fiesta which in the first place you know that eversince it's the only date we celebrate our fiesta. Your ancestors didn't change that and poor thing you're in line of those political families in dingle and surprisingly they would just say the fiesta was moved to October? Oh  c'mon. Huya2x manlang tane sa mga tito, lolo, or sa kadugo mo nga naging mayor man da pro they never change history and all they want was the joy of the dingleanons once a year. But look at it now, are they happy? Are they even excited on that Pagdihon festival that you started? ppfftt…

All i can say is, Dingle was rumored to be a ghost town and now it's slowly turning into one. Can this be real? You reader, go visit dingle and you should know what this blog is all about. Listen to the radio and you'll here every rant from the dingle reporter regarding our fiesta. tsk. Hope you have your eyes wide open on the next election and wouldn't allow politicians to buy your votes. Where the heck is your dignity? And hope you learned your lesson for voting those people in the new administration. Tsk.
